Constructed over 12 months this building in Avonmouth, Bristol is the largest wine warehouse and bottling facility in Europe. Covering 80,000 square metres the EURO 50 million project processes 15 percent of all the wine sold in the UK. The brief was to record the build from start to finish.
Long term time lapse always throws up a few case specific issues. The first problem here was that there was no-where to put the cameras. The project was going to cover every inch of the site so we had to draw up a contract to rent a small parcel of land from the adjacent chemical works. With this sorted we erected a scaffold tower and installed a solar/lithium powered Pentax camera in an Harbortronics weatherproof housing.
During the next months we installed a further three cameras internally with the lithium batteries changed every month. The filming generated over 75gb of still pictures. and the resulting video was used in a number of internal and promotional presentations.
